Oh, how many times have each of us written down our goals for the New Year (and not only!)? Were all of them ultimately achieved? Of course, it varies from person to person, but for many, these goals often remain on paper, only exacerbating a gradual underlying sense of guilt for not achieving them. And the most interesting thing is that it’s not about a lack of willpower or some magical talent, but simply an unproductive approach to achieving them.
The main point is that once you set a goal, you need to do more than just want it or even crave it. This is, of course, also important, but the point is that once you set a goal, you need to understand why you need it. And not only understand it, but also have a specific plan for achieving it. Or, at the very least, you need to be aware of the direction you need to take in order to achieve it.
I remember that in Soviet times we had a popular cartoon in which a boy named Volka met some sorceresses and asked them to teach him their enviable craft. But when they laid out huge diagrams to teach him this very magic, the boy immediately lost heart and suddenly no longer wanted to become a sorcerer. And often this is where the catch lies, because even if the goal seems to be yours, you don’t always feel like taking steps in that direction. And that’s a shame, because again, if it’s really yours, you will feel a surge of strength and positive emotions in the process of taking steps itself. The main thing is to take the first step! I will never tire of repeating that all these steps must be taken in your own direction.
After all, if the goal does not support your true values, then there will be very little energy in pursuing it! By the way, an important point is that if the goal is vague or overly ambitious, it may not motivate you, but rather confuse or even paralyse you. Therefore, you need to approach the choice of your main goal — your goal in life — with care and consideration. And money should definitely not be a priority here. The priority should be your sincere, deep desire to be in this particular sphere every day, and the thought of this should not excite or stress you, but rather delight and warm you.
In summary, the conclusions for today are as follows: it is quite possible that the reason for not achieving your goals lies not in you personally, but simply in the incorrect approach used to set them and the plans for achieving them. It would be beneficial to analyse one of your once-abandoned goals in light of today’s information. So go for it, dear friends!
